Radio
UKSMG – The UK Six Meter Group: Promoting 50Mhz use and helping newcomers understand how to make a success of the band
RSGB – The Radio Society of Great Britain: For all things Ham Radio
Faros: HF Propagation software that connects your rig to your PC and listens out for beacons, a really useful monitoring tool that helps you find out short and long paths automatically
Ham Radio Deluxe: Rig control, Data modes, Satellites, Logging, Clusters and mapping all in one simple programme. I think this is the only piece of software that should be used every time you start up you rig.
Pocket PC
pRssreader: Excellent free RSS reader and podcast thingy for your pocket PC
Fizz Weather: A nice looking and easy to use weather news application with a good today plugin.
PocketDigi: Hamradio HF digital teletype modem for PocketPC. Most people need the arm version.
PocketMorse is a utility for decoding Morse Code audio signals. It runs on Windows desktop systems (equipped with a soundcard) or Pocket PC devices with the Pocket PC 2003 operating system (please contact us if you require a Pocket PC 2002 version). The Morse Code signal is either taken from the microphone input on the desktop/PocketPC or from a Line input (desktop).
PocketMorse can decode Morse when the signal is reasonably clear, and sent at a usual rate. If the signal is very noisy, faint, or sent very slowly (less than about 5 WPM) or very quickly (more than about 25 WPM) then the results from PocketMorse are unreliable.
PPC DX Cluster: A simple Telnet DX cluster on your web enabled pocket pc. Takes a bit of getting used to but a really nice little application
Magic Button: The best and by far the simplest task manager for the pocket PC
Pocket Mechanic: A useful set of tools for clearing out the muck from your pocket pc, formatting cards etc
Useful Stuff
RSS sites: You can subsbribe to these by any RSS reader but I’d recommend pRSSReader if you’re going to use your pocket PC. If there are any suggestions then just email me.
